James (Jimmy) Henry Watley, 69, of Valdosta died on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at his residence following a sudden illness. He was born in Valdosta on August 18, 1946 to the late James McDonald Watley and Rosa Lee Hembree Watley and has been a lifelong resident of Valdosta. He retired from PCA as a recovery operator and was of the Church of Christ faith. He was a devoted family man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was actively involved in their lives. Jimmy was a true friend to all he came in contact with and sought to make sure that everyone was well taken care of.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sandra Watley; a daughter, Michelle Musgrove; a son, Jamie Watley; a niece, Faith Ann Plymel all of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Jarrett Musgrove of Valdosta, Megan Corbett of Echols County, Hillary Sandlin, Dalton Watley, and MacKenzie Watley all of Valdosta; four great-grandchildren, Addisyn Corbett and Macyn Corbett of Echols County, Aiden Watley of Quitman, and Lydia Musgrove of Valdosta; a brother, J.M. (Buck) Watley of Nashville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Plymel; his brother, Billy Shiver; a nephew, Angelo Watley.
A graveside service for Jimmy Watley will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Mr. David Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Georgia Christian School.
