James (Jim) Anderson, 95, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the Memorial Convalescent Center in Adel. He was born on January 28, 1914 in Lowndes County to the late Bill and Kate Slate Anderson. Mr. Anderson was retired from Strickland Cotton Mills and was a member of New Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Hahira.
He is survived by one daughter and son in law, Peggy and Charles Rowe of Nashville, one son, James William (Billy) Anderson of Valdosta, four grandchildren, Wendy Hopkins, Becky Dasher and her husband, Walt, Kim Anderson, Randy Anderson and his wife, Deborah, two great grandchildren, Bobby Hopkins and Stepheney Davis, three great great grandchildren, Tommy Davis, Randy Anderson and Joey Anderson, one sister, Lois Fountain of Tampa, numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Watley Anderson on July 2, 1988 and his second wife, Choma Lastinger Anderson on December 10, 2007.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009 at four p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Elder Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
