James (Jim) Country Johnston, 64, of Valdosta died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Baptist Village in Lake Park from complications of multiple myeloma. He was born in Valdosta on July 15, 1949 to the late Henry Deering (Country) and Edith Garlow Johnston. He graduated from Valdosta High School and was attending North Florida Junior College when he was severely injured in an automobile accident. Jim was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Jim was a kind and supportive brother, uncle and great uncle. He enjoyed riding in the country and going to his tree farm. He was a proud member of the Georgia Forestry Association.
Survivors include his two sisters and brother in law, Debbie Langdale of Lake Park, Jenny and Bion Williams of Valdosta, nephews, Jack and Gini Langdale, Matt and Susannah Langdale; nieces, Whitney Williams, Jane Williams and Meredith Williams; great nieces, Mary Langdale, Gretchen Langdale and great nephew, Gray Langdale all of Valdosta. He is also survived by special friends, Olivia Cowart and Mickey Dorminey. The family would like to thank Minnie James, Director and the entire staff at Baptist Village for their compassionate care.
A private family service will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014 with Rev. Jerry Long of First Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Break Bread Program, c/o the First Presbyterian Church, P. O.
