James "Jim" Alfred Noles

June 14, 1940 — August 1, 2014

James "Jim" Alfred Noles, 74, of Fayetteville, NC died peacefully on the evening of August 1, 2014 after a long illness. At the time of his passing, Mr. Noles was being comforted by members of his devoted and loving family.

He was born in the town of Adel in Cook County, GA on June 14, 1940. Mr. Noles was the first of three sons born to the late James Alford and Sue Noles. Mr. Noles lived for many years in Columbus, MS before moving to Fayetteville, NC a year ago to be closer to his sons.

He married the love of his life, Mrs. Janet Hancock Noles, of Hahira, GA on December 31, 1967. He worked for the Weyerhaeuser Pulp and Paper Company for 34 years in locations throughout Georgia, North Carolina and Mississippi before retiring in 2002 as an executive/manager of the Columbus, MS mill. Mr. Noles was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Columbus, MS.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Janet Hancock Noles.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Thad Jason Noles, Chad Mason & Terri Noles and Alan & Angel Noles, all of Fayetteville, NC; and three grandchildren, Ember Noles and Lyndsey Noles of Fayetteville, NC and Leiya Cassady of Knoxville, TN. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Taylor Cassady and Olivia Cassady both of Knoxville, TN and two brothers, Jerry Noles and Johnny Noles, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Noles will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
