James Hoyt Lumpkin, Jr.

Hoyt Lumpkin Jr., (MSGT. Ret.) 45, of Hahira died on Monday, September 24, 2012 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on February 10, 1967. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Hoyt earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Thomas Edison State College and was working on his Masters degree from Capella University. Hoyt loved nothing more than playing ball and riding bikes with his sons. He enjoyed staying involved in every activity while serving in the Air Force and was involved in his community. Hoyt was a faithful, loving and devoted husband to his wife, Sandy, and father to his boys, as well as a loyal friend and neighbor to many.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Sandy Lumpkin of Hahira; two sons, Jacob and Zachary Lumpkin of Hahira; his father, Hoyt Lumpkin, Sr. of Cuthbert, Georgia; mother and step-father, Emily and Don Riley of Mary Esther, Florida; sister, Maureen Smith of Blakely, Georgia; parents-in-law, Michael and Lori Cooke of Brackney, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marsha Cooke and Keith Sturek of Johnson City, New York; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Jewel Cooke of Vestal, New York; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services for Hoyt Lumpkin, Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 in the chapel of the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. The burial will be in the East View Cemetery in Cuthbert, Georgia at 2 p.m. on Friday. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home.
