James Howell "Jimmy" Carter

James Howell “Jimmy” Carter, 76, of Quitman, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020, at his residence. He was born on June 22, 1944 in Toccoa, GA to the late Tommy and Albertene Carter. Jimmy was a welder. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, car racing and building hot rods. Jimmy loved his grandkids and had nicknames for all four of them.

He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Chad Gibson of Dawsonville, GA and Debbie and Shane Chastain of Murrayville, GA, grandchildren, Taylor Carter (Hot Rod), Catherine Gibson (Sugar), Macee Chastain (Turtle) and Lauren Gibson (Chipmunk), sister, Cathy Carter of Myrtle Beach, SC, best friends, Glenda Mize and Rosa Jackson. Jimmy is predeceased by his wife, Martha Jean Mangum Carter.

A graveside service will be held Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1 p. m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Burial will follow. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
