James Howard Williams, 89, of Barney, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Lake City VA Hospital in Lake City, FL. He was born on February 18, 1919 in Colquitt County, GA to the late John Henry and Belle Shaw Williams. Mr. Williams was a retired grocer and barber. He was a United States Army veteran and served in the field artillery battalion. Mr. Williams was a member of Barney First Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Icia Williams of Rossville, GA, two daughters and sons in law, Duwane and Joe Lewis of Barney and Ann and Gene Johnson of Lake Park, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, two brothers, John Williams of Hahira and Ferrell Williams of Avon Park, FL. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Rogers Williams, several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at eleven a. m. at the graveside in Campground Cemetery with Reverend Keith Wise officiating. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice at Lake City VA Hospital, 619 South Marion Street, Lake City, FL 32025. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m.
