James Grover Stalvey

JAMES GROVER STALVEY, 81, of Old Town, Florida died Saturday, August 5, 2006 at the Haven Hospice Care Center in Chiefland, Florida. He was born on February 5, 1925 in Brooks County, Georgia to the late Charlie N. and Mary Hasty Stalvey and had lived in Hahira for several years before moving to Florida many years ago. Mr. Stalvey was a carpenter and a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in World War II. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mr. Stalvey was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Griffin Stalvey of Old Town, Fla., his five children and their spouses, Donnie James and Sandy Stalvey of DeLand, Fla., Glynn and Sheila Stalvey of Ft. White, Fla., Betty Lou Polskey of Homosassa, Fla., Mike Charlie Stalvey and Tommy Grover Stalvey both of Crystal River, Fla., nine grandchildren, Wendy Fischer of Starke, Fla., Glynn Orren Stalvey, Jr. of Ft. White, Fla., Zachary Stalvey of Homestead, Fla., Bobby Thomas Stalvey, Wesley Stalvey, Cheri Polskey, Dennis Polskey, Shawn Polskey all of Crystal River, Fla. and Crystal Stalvey of Dunnellon, Fla., four great grandchildren, Heaven Fischer, Justin Richard Hollingsworth, Trevor Nathaniel Stalvey and Mikey Polskey, a sister and brother in law, Evelyn and Ralph Smith of Phoenix, AZ., an aunt and uncle, Kitty and Carroll Agner of Madison County, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with the Rev. Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
