James Fredrick (Fred) DeLoach II, of Hahira passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Richmond, VA. He was born in Valdosta, Georgia on September 1st, 1937. He was the eldest son of the late James Frederick and late Evelyn McRae DeLoach. He spent most of his life in Valdosta, but spent a good portion of his youth, including high school, in Leesburg, Florida. Losing his father at the age of 13, Fred had to assume the role of “man of the family”, assisting his mother in earning a living and caring for his younger brother. Throughout his life, this is the role Fred fulfilled for many, not just his family. He was a provider and caregiver. He loved to share his beautiful tenor voice with others beginning with the glee club in high school, as a first tenor in the University of Florida glee club, and on to his days with the church choir. Fred volunteered for active military duty during the Vietnam era and served four distinguished years in the United States Air Force. After serving our country, he was a businessman mostly focused on factory built housing. He rose to become president of the Georgia Manufactured Housing Association. He will be sorely missed by many friends and family members.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathryn Lee DeLoach Roberds, her 3 sons, Jared Brandon Emrich, Richard Garrett Roberds, and Andrew Blake Roberds; His son, James (Jay) Fredrick DeLoach III, his wife Stephanie and their 4 children, Lauren Ella DeLoach Selph, Micaela Marie Juarez, James Jacob DeLoach and Ryan Alexander DeLoach; His brother, Dewey Steven DeLoach, niece Fleur, and her two sons.
