James F. Grace, Usaf Msgt. (Ret.)

James F. Grace, USAF MSgt. (Ret.), 74, of Lake Park, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, after a long, courageous battle with Lymphoma.

He was born May 18, 1937, in Shorterville, Alabama, a son of the late Frank and Stacia Chance Grace. Mr. Grace retied from Moody Air Force Base after honorably serving 23 years in the Air Force. He was later employed as Operation Manager at the Valdosta Mall for 23 years, and most recent was Groundskeeper and worked with the Latin American Printing Ministry at Forrest Park Church of Christ.

Mr. Grace was a faithful member of Forrest Park Church of Christ. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved God and his family and lived every day giving unselfishly of himself to those in need. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and buddies from church.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Don Bonner of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tracie Grace of Tifton; grandchildren, Sarah Grace and Hannah Bonner of Valdosta, Tanner and Rylan Grace of Tifton; three sisters, Edna and husband Edd Knowles of Brewton, AL, Jane and husband Robert Reeder of Jacksonville, FL, and Shirley Ward of Headland, AL; two brothers, Wayne and wife Eva Grace of Dothan, AL, and Tim and wife Jeannine Grace of Headland, AL; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Joann Grace in 2009, and by one sister, Nell Hardy.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Grace will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Mr. Ryan Tuten and Mr. Ray Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pearlman Cancer Center, 2501 N. Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31602.
