James Eugene Dennis

James Eugene "BoBo" Dennis, 74, of Lake Park, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born September 19, 1935 in Valdosta, a son of the late George Roe Dennis and Remmie Mae Terrell Dennis. Mr. Dennis had served in the U.S. Army and for several years he worked as a Boiler Mechanic at the Jacksonville Ship Yard. He was a member of Antioch Church and he enjoyed restoring antique tractors and cars, farming, and collecting coins. He loved spending time with his family and taking them on vacation to the mountains.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Dennis, Sr. and Susan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marian "Cissy" Hartman and Howie, and Deborah Rogers and James, all of Lake Park; seven grandchildren, Paula Hughes, Billy Dennis, Jr., Travis Dennis, Yancey Hartman, Sarena Stone, Danny Tomlinson and Darrell Dennis, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Dawson Cook, Taylor Stone and Paisley Hartman; six sisters and one brother, Doris Lewis and husband Tony of Valdosta, Eston Dennis of Nashville, Mildred Maxwell and husband Fred of Jacksonville, Roberta Saunders of Lake Park, Dorothy Rogers and husband Jimmy of Echols County, Molly Sauls and husband Randall of Valdosta, and Kathy Dennis of Lake Park; a special nephew, David Gay and wife Linda of Lake Park; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Stephens Dennis; a son, Darrell Dennis, Sr.; five brothers and one sister, Sam Dennis, Edwin Dennis, George Dennis, Jr., Minnie Ruth Goodwin, Richard Dennis and Charles Dennis.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery.
