James Ethridge Fielding

James Ethridge Fielding, 73, of Lake Park died surrounded by family, Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 28, 1942 in Valdosta to the late William Starling Fielding and Dorothy Iona Tomlinson Fielding. Ethridge worked for The Langdale Company for 29 years. He was a Mason and member of Alapaha Masonic Lodge # 209. Ethridge served on the Echols County Board of Education from 1980-2000. He played the steel guitar, with The Sounds of Gospel, Pure Country, and numerous other bands. Ethridge loved the outdoors. He was a master craftsman and artist.

He is survived by his daughter, Angie Fielding Roberts (Pip) of Mayday, son, Greg Fielding of Mayday, daughter, Deborah Moss (Jeff) of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Derric Fielding (Missy), Justin Fielding, Matthew Moss, Weston Roberts and Olivia Moss, four great grandchildren, Addyson Fielding, Ashlyn Fielding, Caleb Fielding and Gage Fielding, two brothers and sisters in law, Jim and Sandra Fielding of Hahira and George and Kay Fielding of Lake Park, sister and brother in law, Gwen and Mark Turner of Valdosta. Ethridge is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandra Kaye Gaskins Fielding, his sister and brother in law, Billie and Lavon Sandlin.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at two p. m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park with Reverend Wayne Boykin officiating. Burial will follow at Wayfare Cemetery with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
