Reverend James E. Kiser, of Emerson, Georgia, formerly of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Sunday March 1, 2020 at the age of 92. He was born May 9, 1927 in Naylor, Georgia to Elbert Hays Kiser and Della Bolling Kiser. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II and in the Philippines. He was a minister of the gospel and pastored churches in the Church of God in Quitman, Hahira, Brunswick and started two churches during his lifetime, formerly Southside Church of God in Valdosta and Lighted Pathway Church in Cassville Georgia.
He is survived by his daughter Judy Kiser Lehman; granddaughters Lydia Lehman, Lara Lehman, both of Emerson, Georgia and Samantha Johnson of Nahunta, Georgia; two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Della Kiser, his wife Mildred Allbritton Kiser, his daughter Janice Kiser Johnson, grandson David Johnson, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Hilmer and Ida Kiser, and Silas and Audrey Kiser.
He leaves a legacy of love, kindness and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
