James Edward Herndon

James Edward Herndon, 78, of Valdosta died Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home. He was born in Valdosta on September 21, 1937 to the late Thomas E. and Merle Burnham Herndon and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Mr. Herndon was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and hunting. Mr. Herndon was a wonderful son and brother and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his sister, Sylvia Herndon Pitzing of Valdosta and a brother, Richard Herndon of Gainesville, FL; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016 in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Father Brian LaBurt officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1pm until 2pm at the Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
