James Edward (Eddie) Patterson, 64, of Valdosta died Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Holly Hill Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Brownwood, Texas on August 2, 1948 to Fannie Eaton Patterson and the late James Walford (J.W.) Patterson and had lived in this area for many years. Eddie was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, loved being with people and enjoyed being with his friends at LARC. He loved going to the races, fishing and enjoyed fish fries and loved John Wayne. Eddie always had a smile on his face and loved to have fun.
Survivors include his mother, Fannie Patterson of Valdosta, sister and brother in law, Barbara and Blake Pearce of Valdosta, brother and sister in law, Danny and Donna Patterson of Hahira, sister and brother in law, Laura and Billy Spell of Lake Park, brother in law, Charlie Miley of Valdosta, numerous nieces and nephews and special family in Texas. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eva Canter and Jackie Miley, a nephew, Sonny Williamson and a niece, Alissa Terrell.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Hahira Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. James Stringer and Rev. Carlton Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home, 401 S. Church St., Hahira, GA 31632.
