James Edward (Eddie) Collins, Jr.

James Edward (Eddie) Collins, Jr., 60, of Valdosta died Monday, November 4, 2013 at his home. He was born in Madison, Florida on August 16, 1953 to James Edward Collins, Sr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Ferrell Collins and had lived in Valdosta most of his life. Mr. Collins was a charter member of Crossroads Baptist Church and was retired from Laws Furniture. He loved his Lord and his family, his happiest times were those spent with his children and grandson. Mr. Collins was an avid high school and college football fan, loved music and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Maureen Poole Collins of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Meghan Collins Hempe and Kevin Hempe of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, Justin Collins and Keeley Collins of Hahira, grandson, Luke Hempe of Valdosta, his father, James E. Collins, Sr. of Valdosta, three sisters and two brothers in law, Linda and John Ring of Quitman, Tina Collins of Valdosta, Betsy and Jimmy Morris of Quitman, his brother, Donny Collins of Valdosta, his mother in law, Iris Poole, brother in law and sister in law, Philip and Kathi Poole, sister in law and brother in law, Amy and Terry Creasy all of Valdosta, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 with Dr. Ken Alford officiating. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
