James E. Carter

JAMES E. CARTER, 77, of Valdosta died Monday, January 3, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Lake City, Florida. He was born on January 24, 1927 in Hamburg, Arkansas to the late Jeff and Lelia Burchell Carter and had lived in Valdosta since 1965. Mr. Carter was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and on numerous committees. He was a known businessman in the community having owned and operated Tire Master Service Center and a was a member of the Lions Club. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Tena Carter of Valdosta, two sons and a daughter in law, Kenneth Carter of Jacksonville, Fla. and Ernest and Donna Carter of Tifton, one grandson, James Rouse Carter of Valdosta, three brothers and two sisters, eleven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Friday, January 7, 2005 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Reddick, Rev. Bob Willis and Dr. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday on 6-8pm at the funeral home. Condolences may conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
