James D. Wilkey, 81, of Hahira, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at Heritage Health Care at Heritage House in Valdosta. He was born on August 12, 1930 in Spring City, TN to the late Millard and Jean Ferguson Wilkey. Mr. Wilkey was retired from the United States Air Force serving from 1951 until 1971. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Wilkey worked for Barfield Oil Company and Rountree Construction Company. He was a member of the Hahira Masonic Lodge # 346 for fifty three years and a volunteer with the Hahira Fire Department.
Mr. Wilkey is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Beatrice Wilkey of Hahira, three daughters and sons in law, Nancy and Marshall Fields and Janice and Don Sirmans of Hahira and Martha and Greg Flythe of Valdosta, seven grandchildren, Leslie Norman (Jeremy), Jeremy Fields (Kelli), Amanda Parker (Mike), Marie Benefield (Jesse), Jacob Sirmans, Hank Flythe and Andrew Flythe, three great grandchildren, Lacie Benefield, Hallie Benefield and Madeline Norman, one sister, Nancy Jo McClendon of Spring City, TN and one sister in law, Wanda Pitmman of Dayton, TN. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Pittman and Bruce McClendon.
Funeral services and burial will be held Sunday, December 11, 2011 at two p. m. at the graveside at Friendship Cemetery with full military honors and Masonic rites. Reverend Ken Morgan will officiate. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hahira Masonic Lodge, P. O. Box 102, Hahira, GA 31632. The family will receive friends Saturday from six until eight p. m at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira.
