James Dean Fitzpatrick, known for his servant’s heart, died at Langdale Hospice House, at the age of 69, on June 23, 2023. Born to the late Robert Guy and Ruby Gray Fitzpatrick in Lindale, Georgia, on March 25, 1954, James had dedicated his life to family and serving others. As a Christian, he was a wonderful spiritual leader, and a social worker who loved serving his special needs clients. James loved football. His favorite teams were the UGA Bulldogs, the Green Bay Packers, and the Atlanta Falcons. Most of all he loved and lived for his four girls and his grandchildren. He had a bachelor’s degree and worked as a Social Worker for the State of Georgia. James made his home in Ray City with his special little dog, Miley.
Survivors are his daughters, Katy Madison (Nate) of Ray City, Angel Zuniga of Lakeland, Jaime Fitzpatrick, and Amber Fitzpatrick of Ray City; grandchildren, Deana Zuniga, Vic Zuniga, Destiny Leggett, Jordan Zuniga, Jenni Garduno; great grandchildren, Grayson Hamner and Everleigh Youmans; mother of his daughters, Tammie Leggett; family friends, Victor Zuniga, Yolanda Zuniga, and Crystal Leggett; two cousins who were like his sisters, Angelyn Corpening, and Ginger Kay. James was preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday evening, June 26, 2023, from 5 -7 pm. Services and burial will take place in Rome, Georgia in care of Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. A visitation will be held in Rome on Thursday, June 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 2 p.m. with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Floyd Memory Gardens.
