James “Coach” Edward Parker, 79, of Valdosta, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at his home. He was born in Macon, GA, on April 25, 1941 to the late Ernest James Parker and Doris Bartlett Parker. He was a retired teacher and coach with the Lowndes County School System. A member of Redland Baptist Church and the Elk’s Lodge.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 25 years, Elaine Hiers Parker, of Valdosta; his son and daughter in law Cal and Alicia Parker and their daughter Bristol Parker, of Reynold’s, GA; his daughter and son in law Doris and Glenn McDonald, of Sylvester, GA; his son Vic Parker, and children Peyton, Abigail, and Alexa Kate Parker, all of Brunswick, GA; his daughter and son in law Rozie and Wes Simpson, and children Parker, and Hoyt, of Valdosta. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Ricky Pounds, Jr.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Brad Keel officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery.
