James Calvin Ricks, Jr., 74, of Lake Park, GA died on February 12, 2018 at his home. He was born on August 10, 1943 in Valdosta, to the late James Calvin Ricks and Sarah Pierce Ricks. He spent four years in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis and retired from law enforcement with six years with the Georgia State Patrol and ten years with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department where he retired as a Sergeant over road patrol. Mr. Ricks was a commercial helicopter flight instructor in Saluda, South Carolina where he worked for South Carolina Helicopters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pam Mooney Ricks, two sons and daughters-in-law, Matt Graves and Jasmine Graves, James (Jay) Ricks, III, and Carla Ricks, two daughters, Tracy E. Ricks, and Amanda M. Voigt, his grandchildren, Stephanie Graves, Kelli Graves, Jeremy Webb, Jade Ricks, Ella Ricks, Jackson Ricks, Corey Ricks, Kayla Ricks, Ashley Rojas, and Gabi Frias, one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Cathy Ricks. He is also survived by a host of great grandchildren.
