JAMES BUREN DYKES, 76, of Valdosta died January 12, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on July 8, 1929 in Brooks County to the late Ernest and Della Dykes and had lived most of his life in Brooks County. Buren served in the Korean War as an ambulance driver for a M.A.S.H.unit and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of Christ. His wife, Janet Belle Copeland Dykes, preceded him in death at the age of 74 on August 20, 2005.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Jim and Paula Dykes of Vesailles, KY., twin daughters and sons in law, Kaye and Buddy Dukes of Quitman and Faye and Mark Coshatt of Harker Heights, TX., one sister and brother in law, Virginia and Craig Rutledge of Tupelo, MS., four grandchildren, Brooke Kidwell, Trey Myers,
Stephanie Stoner and Janet Marie Coshatt.
Memorial services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the Welcome Hill Church of Christ on Troupeville Road in Brooks County where he was a member for many years.
