Jae Sook Hwang Branch
Jae Sook Branch, 56, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016, after a long illness.
She was born September 21, 1959 in Pung-gi, Korea, a daughter of Bong-Sup Hwang and Ok-Nam Kim. She grew up in Pung-gi, Korea and graduated as Valedictorian from Pung-gi High School. After graduation she set up her own school and taught the local children out of her home. She then became a Fabric Quality Control Inspector for the Otto Company and traveled to different countries for inspections as the company expanded. She had a love for learning and acquired several degrees, including: English Linguistics and Literature, and Early Childhood Education from Korea National Open University; Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Valdosta State University. She taught at Highland Christian Academy and as a Substitute Teacher at Valdosta High School. While working at Highland Christian Academy and Valdosta High School she coached the Mathematics Competition Team. Through her generous and competitive nature, she inspired her students to excel while representing their school. She served as one of the Directors of the International Folk Fair. She gave of her time generously through tutoring, church activities and caring for others. She attended Morningside Baptist Church and the Valdosta Korean Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian. Jae was a dedicated, loving and compassionate wife, mother, sister and aunt who cared for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever in our hearts.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Branch, III and her son, David L. Branch, IV, both of Valdosta; her mother, Ok-Nam Kim of Korea; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Jae-Chun and We-Sook Nam, Jae-Dong and Ok-Lay Huh, and Jae-Yong, all of Korea; one sister and brother-in-law, Sun-Hwa Hwang and Angel Irigoyen of Texas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mike and Julie Lansdell of St. Mary's, Bob and Diann Branch of Cumming, and Ronnie and Bebo Blanton of Valdosta; nephews and nieces, Hyundai-Jung Hwang, Sok-Hyun Hwang, Min-Joo Hwang, Sok-Jin Hwang, Madison Taylor, Amber Branch, Micah Branch, Jordan Branch, Grace Lansdell, Jerry Lansdell, Juni Irigoyen and Baines Blanton. She was preceded in death by her father, Bong-Sup Hwang; father-in-law, Dr. David L. Branch, Jr.; and mother-in-law, Barbara Ann Sheffield Branch.
The Funeral Service for Jae Branch will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Robertson and Rev. Young Kim officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Quitman. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Morningside Baptist Church, 425 Connell Rd, Valdosta, GA 31602, and/or to Valdosta Korean Baptist Church, 5079 Bemiss Rd, Valdosta, GA 31605.
