Jacson Thompson, 21, of Hahira, died suddenly, at his home on Saturday, March 18, 2023. Born in Valdosta on November 16, 2001, he grew up in Hahira and attended school there. A 2020 graduate of Lowndes High School, Jacson played baseball for the Vikings, after playing the game he loved since the age of 9. While at Lowndes, he met the love of his life, Sophia Cork, and they have dated for 5 years now. He attended Georgia Military College and was studying to become a Physical Therapist. He was also working at Downhome Pizza and had been promoted to being a manager.
Jacson loved being outdoors, whether fishing or hunting ducks or looking for other projects he could get involved in. He also held a deep love for his family and friends and was ready to help anyone at any time, day or night. Following Drew Brees and talking about all type of sports with his brother was something Jacson was passionate about.
Survivors include his parents, Erin & David Thompson and his brother, Chase Thompson, all of Hahira; grandparents, Ronnie and Theresa Thompson, of Hahira, Randall Brown of Jennings, FL and Paula Corte of Valdosta. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Kristy Niehanke of Hahira, Gregg and Lee Brown of Valdosta, Randy Thompson of Newnan, GA, Judy and Donald Jones, of Mobile, AL; several cousins, Jennessee and Webb Graham, Kadon Niehanke, all of Hahira, Tanner Brown, Baylee Brown, Charlee Brown, and Cullen Brown, all of Valdosta; his girlfriend, Sophia Cork and his best friend, Levi Brown both of Valdosta. He is preceded in death by his great grandparents, Lee Roy and Ruth Anita Brown, Hazel Rentz, A.W. and Pauline Deal and Tommy and Vera Thompson.
The funeral of Jacson will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 24, 2023, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta. Pastor James Bowens will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the 2pm service time on Friday.
