Jacquetta Omsted

JACQUETTA OMSTED, 84, of Valdosta, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, joyfully went to be with Jesus on Friday, November 23, 2007. She was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, the daughter of the late Ellis and Emma Sloan Simmons. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lt. Col Kenneth Omsted and her much loved son, Kenny Omsted. After marrying, the Omsteds lived in Korea and Argentina during their Air Force years, retiring in Montgomery, Alabama. Lt. Col and Mrs. Omsted moved to Valdosta in 1983 to join their family. Family was always a top priority and one of her greatest joys was being a grandmother. She loved the Lord and was an active member of New Covenant Church. We are comforted to know that she is in the presence of the Lord!

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Cathy and Terry Conley of Valdosta; her sister, Marion Rodgers of Tampa, FL; her grandchildren, Gene Conley of London, England, Kenny (Sara) Conley of Keller, TX, Keith (Carie) Conley of Estero, FL, Gary (Dana) Conley of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Titus, Cameron and Colby and much loved nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11am, Monday, November 26, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Garden of Memories in Tampa, Florida. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10-11am at the funeral home. Mrs. Omsted was a great supporter of Christian mission work.
