Jacqueline Norton Wiggins or Jackie as everyone knew her, 86, of Valdosta, GA, went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2016. She was born in Boston, GA on November 4, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Hugh Grovenstein Norton and Ola Pitts Norton. As a child growing up in Boston, she enjoyed sports and working in the family general store. After graduation from high school, she went to Georgia State College for Women in Valdosta, where she met the love of her life, John R. Wiggins. They had two children, Bob and Kay.
She was a tireless, faithful servant of the Lord and truly walked the walk or (ran it). One of her greatest pleasures was serving and ministering (along with her beloved John) to the young couples and families in First Baptist Church and then Perimeter Road Baptist Church. They were an inspiration to many.
Aside from serving the Lord, her family was her greatest joy. A wonderful wife, caring mother and a beloved Mimi to seven grandchildren and 12 grandchildren. She leaves a beautiful legacy.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, John R. Wiggins, her brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Mary Ann Norton, and brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Margaret Norton.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Richie Adham of Orlando, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Penny Wiggins of Cartersville; grandchildren, Patrick Wiggins of Atlanta, Brian and Angie Wiggins of Ackworth, Stuart and Melissa Wiggins, Ashley and Adam Baker of Cartersville, Brooke and Stephen Cox of Braselton, Michael and Sarah Adham of Jacksonville, FL, Katherine and Trey Bennett of Gainesville, GA.; twelve great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Howard Anthony of Rockville, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Perimeter Road Baptist Church. Reverend Brian Anderson, Reverend Craig Bailey and Reverend Wayne Dorsett will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
