Jacob "Cookie" McCook, 17, of Lowndes County, died on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained following a tragic accident. Born in Adel on August 24, 1994, Jacob was a rising senior and member of the Class of 2013 at Lowndes High School where he played center for the Vikings. Jacob was an avid Georgia Bull Dog Fan. He loved life, hunting and fishing. He lived to help others, had many friends and was very giving and loving. Jacob was high spirited and he loved to make people laugh. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and two weeks ago, Jacob gave his life to Christ.
Survivors are his mother and step father, Lynn and Ricky George of Lowndes County; father and step mother, James and Debbie McCook of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; brothers, James McCook, Jr. of Germany, Jaysen McCook of Lowndes County, Parker George of Lowndes County; step sisters, Shelby Dunning and Kayla Dunning of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; grandparents, Jo and Lonnie George of Lowndes County, Ed and Penny Irby of Moultrie, Jim and Nancy Robinson of Maryland, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jacob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold F. and Dorris Louise McCook.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church with Reverend Ross Cook and Dr. Ken Alford officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4 – 7 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
