Jackie Wayne Carter

Jackie Wayne Carter, 53, of Valdosta died Sunday, January 30, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy battle with leukemia. He was born on October 23, 1957 in Valdosta and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lake Park. Mr. Carter was employed with Valdosta State University as a heating and air conditioning mechanic and coached baseball, basketball and girls softball at the Valdosta Boys and Girls Club for twenty years.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Sutton Carter, his son, Jay Carter and Michele Mullins, grandson, Cayden Carter, his mother, Melba Miller all of Valdosta, brother and sister in law, John and Rosa Miller of Valdosta, two sisters and a brother in law, Peggy Krizovsky of Valdosta, Lori and Tim Blanton of Lakeland, friend, Ernest Mitchell of Valdosta, his father in law, Ronald Sutton of Valdosta, sisters in law and brothers in law, Linda and Darryl Michek, Liz and J.R. Wood all of Valdosta, Diane and Tim Aultman of Lake Park, brother in law and sister in law, Ronnie and Theresa Sutton of Valdosta, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, William Maxwell (Billy) Carter, a sister, Linda Gail Rumph, mother in law, Martha Sutton, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Pope, Lillie Mae Carter, Alice and Eddie Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 4pm, Tuesday, February 1, 2011 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Brother Carlton Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery.
