Jackie Lee Courson, 77, of Lake Park, passed away at his residence on December 25, 2017. He was born in Valdosta on November 17, 1940 to the late Robert and Vercie Mae Carter Courson. He owned and operated Courson Textile and was also an independent insurance salesman. He was devoted to his church, Loch Laurel Baptist Church, and loved to visit shut-ins at the hospitals and nursing homes. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Courson of Lake Park, his daughters, Patricia Courson Parsley of Valdosta, Christie Courson Covington of Lake Park, and Kellie Courson of Valdosta, his grandchildren, Bobbi and Tony Howell of Lake Park, Hunter Chace of Atlanta, his great grandchildren, Bradley Terry, Kalli Howell, and Brody Howell, his brother and sister-in-law, William Roger and Faye Courson of Enigma, and several brothers and sisters-in-law and other extended family. He was preceded in death by a sister Myra Darlene Courson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Milton Sellars officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
