Jackie McCray Johnson, 55, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at South Georgia Medical Center. Jackie was born on March 17, 1969, in Miami, Florida to Melvin Lawson and Ophelia Hatcher Brown. Upon graduation from high school, Jackie went on to earn a technical degree and secured a job as a legal assistant. She, along with her family, has lived in Valdosta for the past decade and she was of the Pentecostal faith and a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Johnson of Valdosta; her children, Daniel Johnson of Quitman, and Jasmine Johnson and Sherry Johnson both of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Kyro Wiseman, Island Wiseman, Amir Wiseman and expecting Taye Wiseman; her parents, Ophelia and Xavier Brown of Lake Park, and Melvin and Deidral Lawson of Valdosta, three sisters, two brothers and brothers-in-law, Katina and Eric Sharp, Catherine and Jerry Lightner, Melvin Lawson, Melvin Cox all of Valdosta, Mica Lawson of Miami, FL, and predeceased by her sister Diane Lawson (2024) of Miami, FL; niece, Amanda Lawson, many other numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Jackie McCray Johnson will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Freddie Patton officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on the night prior, December 20, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
