Jack Willard Wilkerson

Jack W. Wilkerson, 82, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lowndes County on October 6, 1926 to the late William Wilton and Mary Alverna Cook Wilkerson. Mr. Wilkerson was retired from the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his son, James Wilkerson of Valdosta, his two daughters and sons in law, Diane and Phillip Beach of Arab, AL and Kathi and John Williams of Valdosta, his son, Rick Wilkerson of Valdosta, a special daughter in law, Judy Phipps of Athens, TN, his brother and sister in law, Frank and Maydell Wilkerson of Fernandina, FL, nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and his brother in law, Ferrell Herring of Ray City. Mr. Wilkerson was preceded in death on July 11, 2005 by his loving wife of fifty five years, Martha Wilkerson. He is also preceded in death by one grandson, John David Williams, Jr., one brother, Henry Wilkerson and one sister, Myrtle Herring.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at three p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Mardy Gardner and Reverend Jim Schappaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one until three p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
