Jack Holland Cain, Sr. went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2019. He was born on August 4, 1934 to Thomas Jackson (J.T.) and Rosa Mae Cain in Hahira, GA. Jack was a Shriner, a Mason, and for several years an Elk member. He was a long time share holder of Ocean Pond. Before his declining health, he was an avid fisherman. He loved the Valdosta Wildcats and was a long time member of the Valdosta Wildcats Touchdown Club. He also loved the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, and of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He retired from Catalytic Generator of Norfolk, VA as Vice President after 38 years. He served 7 years in the U.S. Air Force. He loved God and his country. Jack loved his family and friends. His pleasure time was spending time with his family. He was a member of the Hahira Supper Club.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jeanette Griner Cain, of Valdosta, formerly of Nashville, GA; his children, Jack Cain, Jr. (Donna), Sherry Cain Wetherington (Bert Tucker), and Debbie Cain Steinberg; seven grandchildren, Gretchen Cain Cowart (Brandon), Brooke Wetherington Moreno (Dr. Hernando Moreno), John Dennis Wetherington (Emily), Laura Wetherington Bonner (Ansley), Jenna Cain Swails (Michael), Christy Steinberg Allbritton (Jeremy), and Chad Steinberg; thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; a step granddaughter, Becky Wetherington Luke, Matt Tucker (Kim), Lauren Tucker Zeel (Dave). He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Helen Cain Cook (Harold), of Rossville, GA, sons-in-law Dennis Wetherington and Charles Steinberg.
Funeral services for Mr. Cain will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. with Rev. Jimmy Towson and Rev. Craig Rikard officiating. Entombment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2-3:30p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 100 E.
