Jack C. (Papa Jack) Hutchinson, 86 of Valdosta died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Cook Medical Center. He was born in Valdosta on December 14, 1930 to the late Fred and Olinta Mae Whitfield Hutchinson and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Hutchinson was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railway and retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for Lake Park. Mr. Hutchinson had served in the Army Reserves. He loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and being on the sidelines on Friday night with Coach Joe Wilson and the Lowndes High Vikings. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his church family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Macy Pittman Hutchinson of Valdosta; his children and their spouses, Gary and Kathy Hutchinson of Valdosta, Gaye and Ricky Lightsey of Lake Park, Don and Dana Hutchinson of Valdosta; his grandchildren and their spouses, Kristen and Ivy Dees, Kelly and Joel Pittsley, Justin and Kim Lightsey, Lance and Heather Lightsey, Logan Hutchinson, Landon Hutchinson; his great grandchildren, Cole Dees, Collins Dees, Maddox Pittsley, Lucas Pittsley, Addi Lightsey, Aldyn Lightsey, Eva Grace Lightsey, Cade Johnson, Wyatt Lightsey, Sophie Lightsey; sisters in law and brothers in law, Jean and Terry Griffin of Fernandina Beach, FL, Wanda and Henry Carter of Augusta, GA, Lovie Pittman of Valdosta, Harry Boyett of Waycross, GA; several special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister in law, Barbara Ann Boyett and two brothers in law, Donald Pittman and Lamar Pittman.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. Ray Joyner officiating. Entombment will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
