Jack A. Bayman, Sr., 79, of Valdosta went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at his residence. He was born on April 3, 1932, in Albany, Indiana, to the late S.W. (Pete) and Lillian Goff Bayman. He joined the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed at Moody Air Force Base where he met his wife, the former Bonnie Sue Fulp. He returned to Valdosta following his military career and worked as a mechanical engineer, researcher and designer, holding several patents. His career took him and his family to Jacksonville, FL and Americus before finally returning to Valdosta where he and his wife have resided for the past 16 years. Jack was a man who treated everyone he met with gentleness and kindness. He loved music and played many different instruments and loved singing with family and friends and he held a very special relationship with his wife, his sons and his whole family throughout their lives together.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie Sue Fulp Bayman, of Valdosta, three sons and daughters in law, Jack, Jr. & Valerie Bayman of Hahira, Rohn & Theresa Bayman of Edison, and Maurice & Melissa Bayman of Valdosta; ten grandchildren, Jettie Barfield of Hahira, Jason Bayman of Lake Park, Jenna (Emory) Griffis of Valdosta, Amanda (Eric) Shelton of Valdosta, Kathryn (Travis) Cargile of Mableton, Daniel Bayman of Edison, Heather (Tyler) Sermons of Valdosta, Kelsey Nabors of Athens, Heath Bayman of Hahira, and Drew Nabors of Valdosta. Also surviving are three sisters and brothers in law, Darlene & Gene Gleeson, Wanda & Jim Clevenger and Mary Lou & Lonny Payne, all of Indiana; a brother in law and his spouse, Lowell & Elizabeth King of Americus, a brother in law, Kenny Bullock of Indiana; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Joe King and Shirley Bullock.
A funeral service for Mr. Bayman is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 in the chapel of the Martin/McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Clyde Stokes will officiate. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira.
