J. W. Willis

J. W. Willis, 84, of Lake Park died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Langdale Hospice House. He was born on January 30, 1925 in Brooks County to the late Henry and Helen Wheelis Willis and had lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Willis was a Baptist, a retired truck driver and had worked with the railroad. He enjoyed fishing, riding horses and collecting automobiles. Mr. Willis served seven years with the United States Marines and received a purple heart.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Joel and Dorothy Willis of Dasher, a daughter, Helen Willis Horne of Ray City, 6-grandchildren, 2-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Bonner Willis.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Dr. A. H. “Skip” Van Nus officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
