Ivy G. Kinsey, 98, of Valdosta died on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born on March 2, 1915 in Jennings, Florida to the late Johnnie Edward and Susie Kate McIntyre Kinsey. He was an electrical engineer and retired from Moody Air Force Base as a Construction Manage and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARF). Mr. Kinsey, along with his brother, James and many others, helped to build the Jennings United Methodist Church of which he was a member.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Doris M. Kinsey of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Patti Lane of Durango, Colorado; a daughter and son-in-law, Angennette and Steve Harold of Palmdale, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy Ray Kinsey of Plantation, Florida; 2 nephews and 6 nieces, and his beloved 4-legged friend, Josie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Hill Kinsey, 3 brothers, James Kinsey, Ray Kinsey and Foy Kinsey and one sister, Julia Langston.
Services for Mr. Ivy Kinsey will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Jennings United Methodist Church in Jennings, Florida with his nephew, Rev. Fred Langston and Rev. Gordon VanNamee officiating. The committal service will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children's Home or Jennings United Methodist Church.
