Ive L. Ridley

Ive L. Ridley, Jr., 83, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Langdale Hospice House. Born on November 14, 1925 in Blackshear, he was the son of the late Ive Leonard, Sr. and Lora Mae Poole Ridley. Mr. Ridley was associated with Georgia Power Co. retiring as Residential Marketing Supervisor. He was also retired as Lt. Col. in the United States Air Force Reserve and participated in 47 missions over Europe in U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. Mr. Ridley was a member of the Elks Club and was the Past Exhalted Ruler in 1976. He enjoyed playing golf and was proud of his Southern heritage. Mr. Ridley was a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Palmer Ridley of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Jim McNab of Fletcher, NC; three sons and daughter-in-law, Ron and Leslie Ridley, Miles Ridley, all of Lake Park and Mark Ridley of Valdosta; two step-daughters, Debbie Hayslip and her husband, David, of Crestview, FL, Diane Palmer of Valdosta; grandchildren, Jennifer Brooke Chmielewski and husband, Rico of Lake Park, Jessica Culpepper and husband, Kyle of Pensacola, FL, Jordan Hayslip of Crestview, FL, Shanna Nijem of Augusta, and Jon Nijem, Jr. of Valdosta; great-grandchildren, Spencer Chmielewski and Briggs Chmielewski. Mr. Ridley is also survived by his sister, Jackie Barboe of Oxford and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Quinnylu Story Ridley.

Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 28, 2009 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Akers and Rev. Keith Allsbrook officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home.
