Ishmeal Earl Johnson, 89, of Gainesville, Florida died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born on January 30, 1922 in Bowling Green, Kentucky to the late Roy Earl and Mamie Loafman Johnson and had lived in Gainesville for many years. Mr. Johnson was retired from the Social Security Administration as a manager, a veteran of the United States Marines having served in World War II and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include two daughters and sons in law, Nancy E. and James Clark of Ann Arbor, MI., Theresa D. and John Cartell of Alachua, Fla., one son and daughter in law, Ishmeal E. and Candy Johnson of Apex, NC., grandchildren and their spouses, Kelley Felice Clark and John Hacker, Kristen Marie Clark and Dean Melmoth, Jennifer Champion, Scott Champion, Cristopher Johnson, Sean Cartell, 4-great grandchildren, two sisters and brothers in law, Joanne and Dewey Roche of Auburn, KY., Frances and Frank Rapp of Mindota, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Lee Kelley Johnson and a daughter, Cornelia (Connie) Champion.
Memorial services for Ishmeal Earl and Nannie Lee Johnson will be held at a later date in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
