Isabel Mcleod Allison

On Saturday, August 21st, 2021 Isabel McLeod Allison passed away at the age of 94.
Isabel was born in Valdosta, Georgia on November 26, 1926 to Gus and Jessie McLeod. A graduate of Valdosta High School and Georgia State Women’s College (now Valdosta State University), Isabel began a teaching career in Sylvester, Georgia in 1948. It was while living there that she met Bill Allison, the love of her life and the man who would eventually become her husband.
Bill and Isabel were married on December 23, 1949 and later raised two sons, Randy and Lee, and a daughter, Debbie. The couple celebrated nearly 53 happy years together until Bill’s death in 2002, and their godly marriage was an inspiration to all.
Isabel loved her church, First Baptist Church of Valdosta, and was an active member there all of her life. She was the kindergarten director there for many years. She and her husband Bill also served together faithfully as Sunday School teachers in the preschool department where they enjoyed teaching little ones about Jesus. In later years, Isabel enjoyed serving as part of the We Care ministry and at Lilies, the church’s clothing ministry.
Isabel is survived by her children Randy (Susan) Allison of Valdosta, Lee (Carolyn) Allison of Bryson City, North Carolina, and Debbie (Mark) Stewart of Marietta, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laura (Jay) Harrell, Neil (Amy) Allison, and Blake Allison all of Valdosta and Daniel (Sara) Stewart of Blue Ridge, Georgia.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Mac Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
