Irene Mobley Brown, 65, of Valdosta died at her residence on Saturday, September 19, 2009 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Lowndes County on September 14, 1944 to the late Charlie and Carrie Sadler Mobley. She had worked with Holly Hill and Crestwood nursing homes as a private nurse and had also been a cook for Old South Bar-B-Que House and was a homemaker. She loved fishing and quilting and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, George Brown of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Becky Brown of Valdosta; a daughter, Teresa (T.C.) Brown of Enigma; six grandchildren, Eric Brown, Shelby and her husband, Steven Reagan, Ashton Brown, Brittany Brown, Becky Brown and Brannon Brown; a great-granddaughter, Christen Brown all of Valdosta; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Terrell Croft of Lake Park, and Sandy and John Sadler of Valdosta; special niece and nephew, Cyndy and Bobby Johnson of Brooks County; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon (Coot) Mobley and Bobby Mobley, and a sister, Faye Johnson Vick.
Services for Irene Brown will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will be held at the Redland Baptist Church Cemetery.
