Inez Moon Pendleton, 74, of Valdosta, died suddenly at her home on Friday, July 22, 2005, after a period of declining health. Born on August 28, 1930 in Wenona, GA to the late Royce Duran & Ava Clyde Moon, she was a life long resident of this area. Mrs. Pendleton was a graduate of Valdosta High School and Served as County Clerk for Lowndes County for 38 years before being elected to serve as the County Commission Chairman for 4 years. She also instructed students at the University of Georgia in Municipal Government Administration Classes. While serving as County Commission Chairman, she was a member of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia, she was a past Secretary and President of Wymodausis, past president of the Ladies of NASAH, past president of Literary Guild, served on the South Georgia Regional Library Board of Directors, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, a former member of the Eastern Star and the Garden Club at the Crescent.
Survivors include her husband, Fred T. Pendleton, Sr. of Valdosta; two sons and daughters in law, Fred T. Jr. & Susan Pendleton of Valdosta, and William “Bill” & Renee Pendleton of Naylor; and a brother and sister in law, Floyd & Jeanette Moon of Valdosta. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Daniel Pendleton, Thomas Pendleton, Shannon Pendleton, Bill Pendleton, Stephanie Pendleton, Stephen Pendleton, & Duran Pendleton, all of Valdosta; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Pendleton will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at the First Christian Church with Dr. Milton West officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
