Inez Fletcher Cotton, 94, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Fellowship Home. She was born on October 31, 1921 in Lowndes County to the late Samuel and Remmie Carter Fletcher and has been a resident of this area for most of her life. After graduating high school, Mrs. Cotton attended Berry College and obtained her Bachelor's degree in education. She retired from Lake Park Elementary after 39 years of teaching. Mrs. Cotton had been involved with several organizations in her life including the Red Hat Society and the Retired Educators. She was a true southern lady with a quiet and peaceful demeanor and was an avid reader. Mrs. Cotton was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rannell and Bonita Cotton of Valdosta; grandchildren and their spouses, Christy and Marvin Tullis of Valdosta, Regel and Jennifer Jackson of Woodstock, Georgia, Lindsay and Ben Davis of Birmingham, Alabama, and Catherine Jackson of Calhoun, Georgia; six great-grandchildren including Special Great-Granddaughter Lily Tullis, Clair Tullis, Colin Davis, Jackson Davis, Rhett Jackson and Finn Jackson; two nieces and their spouses, Debbie and Remer Croft, and Sarah and Dickey Stewart; two nephew and a spouse, Stan Fay, and Allen and Diane Greene. Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by her husband, Regel Cotton; her daughter, Darylane Jackson, and two sisters, Montyne Fay and Dolly Greene.
A graveside service for Inez Fletcher Cotton will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Lewis Metts officiating. The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted or donation in lieu of flowers may be made to ones charity of choice.
