Imogene Phillips, 87, of Barney, died on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born in Morehead City, North Carolina, on August 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late James B. Long and Ima Ball Long. She had worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Barney.
Widow of the late Wendell Earnest Phillips, Mrs. Phillips is survived by her children, Thomas W. (Marjorie) Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida, Jeffery V. (Pat) Phillips of Statesville, North Carolina, Robert W. (Yulee) Charlotte, North Carolina, Cheryl P. (Michael) Fisette, Linda S. (Douglas) Jones of Barney, William E. (Athea) Phillips of Lake City, Florida; Wendy P. (Richard) Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Linda L. (Bill) Ring of Summit, New York. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her brothers, James B. Long, Jr., Leslie G. Long and a grandson, Barry Dale Bedo, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Barney. Pastor Steven Haineault will officiate. Burial will follow at Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 -7 p.m. at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home in Hahira. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
