Idell Hughes, 89, of Statenville, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Friday, April 8, 2011, at her home after a short illness.
She was born on January 31, 1922 in Echols County, a daughter of the late Marshall and Susan Provo Deloach. Mrs. Hughes, a member of Statenville Church of God, loved her church and being with family and loved ones. For Many years she had been employed as a Nurses Aide at Lakehaven Nursing Home, Valdosta.
She is survived by three children, Howard and wife Mary Nell Young of Jasper, FL, Mary Nell and husband Alvin Register of Statenville, and Buck and wife Michelle Church of Statenville; sixteen grandchildren, Lynn Young, Paula Young, Howard (Tish) Young, Charlene (Neil) Wachob, Brenda Williams, Karen (Ronald) Watford, Gregg (Annell) Register, Clinton Register, Bylinda (Chris) McCain, Mitchell (Renee) Church, Kurt (Kristi) Church, Carlton (Denise) Church, Jeff Long, Gene Long, Dale Long, and Carol (Scott) Everett; twenty-one great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marydell Deloach of Jennings, FL, and Rosa Bell Dupree of Miami, FL. She was predeceased by her husband, V.B. "Bud" Hughes, and a daughter, Ellen Marie Golf.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hughes will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Statenville Church of God, with Rev. Jaime Register and Rev. Phil Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Statenville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home, Lake Park.
