Ida Rountree Carter

Ida Rountree Carter, 82, of Valdosta died Monday, November 8, 2010 at her home. She was born in Cook County on May 10, 1928 to the late Tom and Nellie Chaffin Rountree and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Carter was a member of the Greenwood Baptist Church where she had served as the nursery coordinator.

Survivors include her husband, H. A. Carter of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, John A. and Debbie Carter of Adel, daughter and son in law, Julie and Steven Sabereign of Panama City, Fla., two grandsons, John Jason Carter and Ethan Register, one granddaughter, Morgan Register, four sisters, Inez Thomas, Irene Wells, Mary Rountree all of Adel and Robinell Ondick of Winter Park, Fla and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Maggie Mae Whitehurst and two brothers, Halbert Rountree and Edsol Rountree.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Evergreen Baptist Church, 2829 Evergreen Church Road, Adel, GA 31620 with Dr. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Michael Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
