Hoyt Raymond Simpson, Jr

HOYT RAYMOND SIMPSON, JR., 70, of Barney passed away Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 30, 1935 in Lowndes County to the late Hoyt Raymond, Sr. and Dorothy Hall Simpson. Mr. Simpson was retired from Southeastern Cold Storage in Tifton, serving thirty eight years as manager. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a Baptist. Mr. Simpson was a racing enthusiast, owning and running his own car #19 at Thunderbowl and had made many friends through his hobby.

Survivors include his loving family, two brothers and sisters in law, James and Patricia Simpson of Hahira, Mack and Kay Simpson of Barney, two sisters, Sylvia Croft of Tifton and Linda Todd of Valdosta, eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two nephews, Mack Simpson and Marc Croft.

Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at Friendship Cemetery with Rev. Gerry Russo officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9pm at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of Mack and Kay Simpson, 2813 Old Coffee Road, Barney, GA 31625.
