Howard Spells, 88, of Valdosta, died Monday, April 9, 2007 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Berrien County in 1919 he was the son of the late Charlton and Emma Guthrie Spells. Mr. Spells was an Army Veteran of WWII. He had owned Spells Neon Signs and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors are his daughters, Donna Holmes and Alice Mullinax of Valdosta, a son and daughter in law, Robert and Katie Spells of Hahira; seven grandchildren, Steve Morris, Timmy Holmes, Lisa Hutchinson, Robert Spells, Jessica Mullinax, Jenny Mullinax, Christopher Mullinax; five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2007 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
