Houston Price, Sr. 81, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 after a long illness. He was born on April 27, 1932 in Statesboro, to the late Hattie Parrish and Millard Bernon (M.B.) Price. He attended schools in Statesboro, Portal, Augusta and Thomasville before graduating from Valdosta High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and served in England, Morocco, Puerto Rico, Guam and Thailand before retiring at Second Air Force Headquarters, Barksdale AFB, LA. During his Air Force career, Master Sergeant Price served in the areas of MMS- Military Munitions Supply, Photography and in the legal services prior to his retirement. Upon his return to civilian life in Valdosta, Houston worked in sales and sales management until he retired in 1994. A member of Crossroads Baptist Church, he taught an adult Sunday School class for a number of years and led the Senior Citizen ministry for a few years.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Ann Willis Price of Valdosta; three sons, Houston Price, Jr. of Valdosta, Gregory Neal Price of Monroe, LA and Daniel Millard Price and his wife Patricia of St. Cloud, FL. They have been blessed with four granddaughters, two great grandsons and three great granddaughters. The oldest of 5 children, Houston is also survived by one sister, Harriett Fersch of Vero Beach, FL and two brothers and sisters in law, Bryan & Betty Price of Pensacola, FL and Phillip & Moni Price of Navarre, FL. He is preceded in death by a brother Doyle Price.
A funeral service for Mr. Price will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2013 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Schappaugh, Rev. Dexter Wilson and Rev. Charlie Scarbrough will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, with the Moody AFB Honor Guard honoring the military service of Master Sgt. Price.
