Horst Bernard (Hank) Brohm, 79, of Valdosta died on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the South Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Wurzburg, Germany on April 1, 1935 to the late Ludwig Ramig and Antonia Kneitz Brohm. At age 18 he, along with his mother and sisters, immigrated to the United States and arrived in New York where he began working with his uncle as a baker. Hank later joined the United States Army and shortly thereafter became a United States citizen. Hank had a 35 year career with Weyerhaeuser, spending the last 13 years of his career as a Regional Sales Manager at the Weyerhaeuser facility in Adel. Hank loved to spend time in his garden and playing golf. Mr. Brohm was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Melinda (Janie) Brohm, of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Nichole and Jeffrey Anderson of Punta Gorda, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Patty Long-Brohm of Seattle, Washington; two grandchildren, Arianna and Connor Anderson of Punta Gorda, Florida; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jutta and Ben D'Errico of Sarasota, Florida and Frieda and Don White of North Bellmore, New York; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Bob Orlando of Fircrest, Washington; and eight nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Horst Bernard (Hank) Brohm will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Father Brian LaBurt officiating.
