Herschel "Hershey Bar" Barfield, Jr.

Herschel “Hershey Bar” Barfield, Jr., 73, of Valdosta, died on Friday, December 11, 2020, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born in Madison County, Florida on August 20, 1947, Herschel was the son of the late Elbridge Herschel Barfield, Sr., and Thelma Louise Hisler Barfield. He proudly served in the United States Army from May 1966 to May of 1969. A car enthusiast, he owned a 1923 T-Bucket. He enjoyed cruising with a big smile on his face and having breakfast with his car club buddies. He never met a stranger and loved to “talk cars”. Herschel loved going to car shows and enjoyed rocking to 50’s and 60’s music. Most of all he loved his family.
Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Nancy S. Barfield; son, Jeff (Abbie) Barfield, Jay (Tracie) Barfield all of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Meghan, Jenna, Sidney, Jayson, and Luke; a sister, Sherry Pigott of Ft. Pierce, Florida, brothers, Guy (Shelly) Barfield of Stockbridge, Brian Barfield of Missouri; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Melanie Barfield Permar.
